Abstract

Character is a spirit or dimension in national education side by side with intellect reflected in the competencies that must be instilled in students in order to become creatures that behave with dignity. The development of the era took place so quickly that the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 became a challenge to pay more attention to character. The industrial revolution 4.0 is an era in which technology is a necessity, and experiences increasingly intensive and massive global openness and interaction that can affect the character of children. The Importance of Strengthening Character Education (PPK) is an important foundation for the growth of children. Developing the character of elementary school students can be pursued through strengthening the five main values ​​of true character education by integrating, deepening, expanding, and aligning school education programs, with this integration expected by generations Indonesian youth who are the nation's successors are able to answer various educational challenges in the industrial revolution era 4.0. So that it can form young people who are creative, innovative, have character, have integrity and uphold tolerance in accordance with the values ​​of national identity as the Indonesian nation with all its cultural diversity and can sustain the achievement of national education goals.
