Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the Socratic learning method on students' rational thinking skills. The type and design of research is quasi-experimental research and non-equivalent control group design. The study population was students in semester VI of classes A, B, and C of the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah Pringsewu University. Samples of class A, and B each amounted to 45 people. The determination of the control and experimental groups is carried out through certain considerations. Data were collected by tests of rational thinking ability and data were analyzed by inferential statistics (t-test). The results showed that there were significant differences in the ability to think rationally between students who studied with the Socratic learning method and students who learned with learning methods. This is evidenced by the value of tcount of 4.2976 and ttab = 2.0017, then tcount is greater than ttab.
